Max Tech’s monster Studio comparison: M2 Ultra vs. M3 Ultra vs. M4 Max

What if you got together some of the most expensive Macs ever released and tested all of then?

Check out this video, just dropped two days ago on YouTube where they reviewed 3 different Apple Mac Studios. They went with both un-binned (full versions) of the Mac Studios (see below).

M4 Max 16 core CPU, 40 core GPU, 48 GB and 32 core CPU, 80 core GPU, and 96 GB RAM.

Brief Highlights
Not surprisingly the M4 Max ($2,699 configuration) SOC was the fastest with a single core score of 4,074. The M3 Ultra ($5,499) was a bit slower by almost 26% at 3,238. Remember single core is what many apps still use. And you’re paying over 2x to have a slower speed.

Now onto the multi core scores, this is where the M3 Ultra pulls away slightly at 27,805 but the M4 Max is pretty darn close at 26,247 for half the price.

Spoiler alert, they’re disappointed Apple didn’t release an M4 Ultra.

Remember, these are only synthetic benchmarks so watch the full video above to get some real world tests with Figma, Lightroom, Final Cut and other apps.
